It’s Book Club time again! Today my pick is Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Basically, its about a girl in her 20’s, figuring out herself in 30’s New York. It was featured on Tory Burch’s blog and based on the one sentence description, I knew I would love it. I’ve always had an interest in this time period, and if you still have Gatsby fever this is a great way to starve it off for awhile. I also loved discussing it with my Grandmother, who actually was living in New York during that time. Hearing her perspective on things made the book that much more engaging. I couldn’t believe that this was not only written by a man–he gets the ladies! but also that this was his first book. It also features pillars of the New York scene, including an appearance by one of my favorite New York institutions, Bergdorfs. I recommend purchasing this book because you will definitely want to reread it time and time again.
